JSP you might want to forward this to the folks at Maine Republic. It backs up what they wrote about jurisdiction. 

I was watching an episode of ‘America Unearthed’ on the History2 channel and the subject of the boundary stones for the District of Columbia came up and some of the stones were shown.

What the stones DO NOT read is ‘Boundary of District of Columbia’, ‘Border of the District of Columbia’, ‘Limit of the District of Columbia’,’Boundary of the United States, ‘Border of the United States’, or the ‘Limit of the United States’.

What the stones DO read is ‘Jurisdiction of the United States’ (see attached photos).
