Pedro Hernandez confessed to murdering Etan Patz but a jury is not convinced he did it

A BOY has been missing for 36 years. A man has confessed to his brutal murder. It sounds like an open-and-shut case but a jury can’t reach a verdict. Etan Patz went missing in 1979 at age six. The bright-faced boy with the bowl cut, blue eyes and beaming smile vanished while walking to school for the first time.
Etan left his parents’ Manhattan townhouse on May 25 that year and was reported missing when he failed to return home. His body has never been found.
The case hit home for parents across the country and became an ongoing national story. His face was plastered on milk cartons and power poles and the front pages of newspapers. Interest faded until Pedro Hernandez confessed to killing the boy in 2012.
