The French magazine has published a cartoon satirizing the radiation effects of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011.
The
controversial French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo has published a
cartoon marking four years since the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear
power plant, which suffered major damage in March 2011 after an
earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.
The cartoon depicts two people in hazardous materials suits
against the dark background of a power plant, which is spewing
pollution. The pair talk about the first swallow of spring time, while
looking at the footprints of a huge bird in front of them that dwarfs
the people in size and alludes to the effects of the plant's radiation
on the surrounding environment.
