Photographer Bill Yates started taking photos at the Sweetheart Rink in Tampa, Florida, in 1972
He used the images to get into a graduate program for photography - then put them away in a box
The incredible images show young kids swigging Pepsi and even smoking cigarettes at the rink
One boy even holds a gun to his head as a joke as he fools around with his shirtless friends
The pictures will soon form part of an exhibition at New Orleans’ Ogden Museum of Southern Art
