Isabella County Sheriff’s officers arrested Visner Thursday morning on two misdemeanor charges.
Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski said police arrested Visner in the parking lot of Maxfield’s restaurant in Edmore, where he was apparently going to attend a meeting of his self-formed People’s Unified Militia of Michigan. A few people were also there for the meeting, the sheriff said Thursday afternoon from a command station in Winn while a state police bomb squad was searching the house at 7287 W. Fremont Road.
A bomb dog hit on a safe in the home, and police requested the combination but Visner from jail refused to provide it.
Mioduszewski said process servers typically handle evictions but police chose to evict Visner because of his previous threats.
Once the house was deemed safe, the sheriff said, a moving company was on standby to begin moving Visner’s belongings from the home, which was purchased at auction by Bank of America because mortgage payments were not being made.
Visner is held on a $200,000 cash bond and officers on the scene mid-afternoon Thursday were asking for notice if he posts bond and is released and might be headed back to the property.

Updated: Visner defiant in court, ordered to remain jailed
An Isabella County judge on Thursday ordered a defiant Ted Visner to remain jailed for contempt of court after he refused to say his name at a scheduled arraignment for two misdemeanor charges.
Judge William Ervin also ordered one of four people in the courtroom in support of Visner to leave when he refused to stand as directed by the bailiff as the judge approached the bench.
Prior to Ervin telling Visner to state his name for the record, Visner said from the Isabella County Jail via video link to the courtroom that he wants to file an objection.
When Visner told the judge to state his own name, Ervin told him if he did not comply, he would be held in contempt of court and remain in jail on $200,000 cash bond.
At one point in the hearing, Visner said he wanted to “arrest the entire Isabella County” court system.
As Visner was being taken from the room at the jail where video arraignments are held, he continued his defiance.
“I object,” he said. “I object... kangaroo.”
