Since then, she's racked up massive fines, which she says add up to about 150,000 dollars. As a widow receiving only 1,000 dollars a month, and with family on the other side of the country, she says there's little she can do.
"I can't see any reason why it would be condemned," said Sikorski. "It's still a good house."
That's when 30-year-old Miles came into her life.
"I saw a situation that looked desperate," said Miles. "She didn't have any help, and it didn't feel right. I couldn't just walk away from it."
As her neighbor, Miles heard about her situation and began to help with repairs around the home, sometimes putting in 16 hour days, all free of charge.
