GREED ON THE AU SABLE RIVER

The Au Sable River needs our help. Now.
In Grayling, on the Au Sable River, a corporate fish farm called Harrietta Hills is seeking to increase its annual fish production from 20,000 pounds to 300,000, and in so doing, increase the fish waste it dumps into the Au Sable River.
At 300,000 pounds production, the facility will add 217,000 pounds of feces and uneaten feed to the water per year, and over 3,500 pounds of phosphorous.
While I would normally be delighted to see a local business growing, this expansion will only create TWO full-time jobs. Worse? The pollution could cost us dozens of jobs across the entire watershed and up to $4.5 million in lost tourism revenue.
