LANSING, MI — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday signed into law a series of new road funding laws that will raise taxes by $600 million a year and eventually re-prioritize another $600 million in state spending.
The Republican-crafted plan represents Michigan's largest
transportation funding increase in more than 50 years, according to
Snyder, but it's faced criticism for various tax changes, a delayed
phase in and the potential effect on other government services.
