District judge retires and no one will fill his shoes

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY -- 86th District Court Judge Haley is retiring at the end of this year and no one will be replacing him.
The 86th District Court serves Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Antrim Counties. In January they will go from three judges to just two.
That is a big change for a court that has seen nearly 10,000 cases in each of the past two years.
"It's going to be different. We are scheduling things differently and we know that the days will be busier than they normally might be, which may cause a delay for people in the courtroom on a particular day,” said Court Administrator, Carol Stocking. “There may be longer wait times between cases.”
