Noam Chomsky isn’t a fan of the new hit movie American Sniper. In
fact, he had some words for those such as the New York Times, who gave
the film shining reviews.
During a talk given at a Cambridge, Massachusetts event, Chomsky
characterized the most lethal sniper in American history, Chris Kyle, as
a cold-blooded killer.
He read Kyle’s own words allow: “‘I hated the damn savages I’d been
fighting,’” Chomsky said, quoting the nation’s most lethal sniper.
“‘Savage, despicable, evil — that’s what we were fighting in Iraq.
That’s why a lot of people, myself included, called the enemy savages.
There was really no other way to describe what we encountered there.’”
But Chomsky noted that while Kyle referred to his first kill as a
“terrorist,” a woman holding a grenade while American troops attacked
her village, the United States President and his administration have
actually been engaged in what would be considered terrorism if anyone
but the world’s most powerful nation was carrying it out.
Chomsky unloaded on the U.S. drone campaign and how the president’s
“kill list” is made up, based upon suspicions of who “might” become a
terrorist.
