The quake that killed in four countries: At least 1,500 people dead after monster 7.8 tremor flattens Nepalese capital of Kathmandu

  • A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal today causing massive damage in the capital Kathmandu
  • Officials reported at least 1,500 dead and warned the toll could rise as rescue teams are still searching for survivors
  • The effects were felt in neighbouring countries with at least 36 dead in India, 12 in Tibet and four in Bangladesh 
  • Quake also triggered a massive avalanche on Mount Everest killing 18 people and injuring at least 30 climbers
