Sperm whales washed up dead on British beaches 'were part of pod which has also lost 12 other members on shorefronts across northern Europe'

Three sperm whales were beached in Skegness, Lincolnshire, today and another at Hunstanton, Norfolk, yesterday

Experts believe they were part of an all-male bachelor pod after 12 more were found around Germany and Holland

Strandings are common in the North Sea but there hasn't been one on this scale 'in decades', according to experts

It is believed they came from near Norway and ventured into shallow waters, where they can't feed or navigate well
