Sperm whales washed up dead on British beaches 'were part of pod which has also lost 12 other members on shorefronts across northern Europe'

  • Three sperm whales were beached in Skegness, Lincolnshire, today and another at Hunstanton, Norfolk, yesterday
  • Experts believe they were part of an all-male bachelor pod after 12 more were found around Germany and Holland
  • Strandings are common in the North Sea but there hasn't been one on this scale 'in decades', according to experts
  • It is believed they came from near Norway and ventured into shallow waters, where they can't feed or navigate well
