Hunger in US 'serious, growing' problem

Hunger and poverty in the United States is a “serious and growing problem,” with no solution in the near future, says an activist.

In 2012, almost 15 percent of America’s senior population faced the threat of hunger, according to a study by the Meals on Wheels Association, the nation’s largest trade group for meal providers.

The economic policies promoted by US President Ronald Reagan during the 1980s pushed millions of Americans into poverty and hunger, said Fred Morris, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Paso Robles California.
